First Boeing 737-800 for China Southern Airlines
SEATTLE, Aug. 23, 2002 -- The first of 20 Boeing 737-800s ordered by China Southern Airlines takes off on a test flight prior to its delivery. The order for the airplanes was finalized at a ceremony in Washington, D.C., in October 2001.
China Southern's new airplanes offer 167 seats -- eight in first-class and 159 in the economy section. The 737 interior reflects contemporary aesthetics and superior cabin flexibility with a spacious feel. This is accomplished with ceiling panels similar to those on the Boeing 777, and overhead bins with smooth curves.
